Hello fellow CFRB-buddies:
After several attempts regarding the status of the rewards program, I finally received a response. Let me share it with you:
To All Rewards Members,
This note is to inform you that - as part of the ongoing evolution of your radio station - we have made the decision to suspend 1010/EZ Life Rewards program, efffective 11:59 PM on Thursday, December 31, 2009.
We continue to work behind the scenes to ensure that any potential subsequent listener programs will be built to meet the expectations of you - our loyal listeners.
As previously indicated, please spend your points as liberally as possible between now and the end of the year.
We thank you for your participation in the EZ Life/1010 Rewards program, and are confident that listening to NEWSTALK 1010/97.3 EZ Rock will continue to provide you with rewarding experiences, through our regular programming and a great variety of on air and online contests.
Thank you,
Kelowna Vincent

AS you see ... it's Astral Media Radio now .... not CFRB
Merry Christmas all
George
PS ... at least if they provided some nice auction/raffle prize packages to end the program with a bang ... but that would have been too "CFRB-like" ...
WHAT???? Suspend the Rewards program??? Are they serious??? What is wrong with them. The prizes are horrible and no worth me spending the points to get them. *sigh*
Good Morning !!

Hi everyone Q107 has a rewards program with more ways to earn points and much better prizes it is called Club Q

How low down and sneaky could they possibly be??? They had never indicated that the program was ending completely! Always that vague glimmer of hope - why leave 1000 points, why leave us hanging? They wait until the middle of December to finally come clean, so they didn't know? - the rewards staff is probably all being fired too, & where is Darryl Henry from EZ Rock suddenly? Both stations will be losing many listeners now.
If they had something decent to bid on - not crappy astral media leftover DVDs - (I'm also thinking of dropping the Movie Network now too, with all it's reruns, reruns, reruns - and movies from last year again and again, with an occasional premier thrown in as a big highlight) Yahoo!!!, at least you would have the opportunity to use up your points if there were in fact bids.
Disgusted and Disgruntled at the whole Astral Media organization!
Go back to Montreal and mess up heads there!
Wouldn't you think that Bill Carroll would grab some auction items to post. I'm sure he could get some really really cheap trade in gold items or a few of those $ 19.00 diamond trinkets from Omni.
Has Omni stepped away also? Maybe there are more staff leaving .
Seems like a strange way to run a radio station.

I don't think we are ungrateful for the most part, I just think we are shocked. Things have not been handled well from their end...when Virgin stopped it's rewards program it was made clear immediately,(no pussy footing around with undistinct answers to people's questions) unlike what 1010/EZrock have done.
I just sent a scathing email to David Lindores, Marketing & Promotions Director for Astral Media telling him what a sour taste 1010 will be leaving in the mouths of loyal listeners who have dedicated a lot of time to their station only to be given 2 weeks notice that the Rewards program is ending and no auctions to at least have half a chance of winning something other than the low-end giveaways they expect you to spend all your points on. Stuff most of us couldn't care less about. They have the right to terminate a program - it's just the way it's done and Astral has been less than up-front ...... sls
